I always considered myself as an average fauji (B grading YOs, 11th in NDA merit, 110th in IMA merit) with the ability to work hard and smart (8.7 CGPA in CME, AY in RSO) . And I rate my colleagues better or at least as good as me. Actually I am in envy of most of them. I always had to work so hard while they could do do what I did so easily.
If I can make it outside with lots of hard work, you all can do much better after having commanded your regiments with the tons of leadership experience and the collateral damage - white hair.
I dont know whether I will win. I hope I do, it increases my marketability especially in recession time. But in my organization and my friend circle it enhances the stamp of being a "Fauji".
The selection criteria was
- Innovations - I created a Resiliency Capability Model and presented it at various conferences in US
- Giving back to society - I have uploaded 20 detailed videos on youtube on how to implement a business continuity program starting from scratch
- Awards - My project where I am the Project Manager - BCMS implementation for Maryland Judiciary was selected by CIO magazine as Top 100 projects in SMB (small and medium business enterprises whose revenue is less than $1 billion) for its value creation to stakeholder
- Value added consulting - I designed and implemented solutions for my client that achieved the project objectives
