One of the comments I received was that except for the first 4 years and then command reports we are not actually leading men.
A leader needs to lead - but it is not necessarily troops or men or a mob. A leader could lead in ideas, in thoughts, in processes, in so many ways than we normally associate with leading.
It really does not matter as to what role you are performing, you could still be a leader if you decide to do so. I have yet to receive a response to my query - what is the difference between a manager and a leader. Or between a good manager and a leader. Once that difference is evident, it is easy to understand how one could be a leader without a team.
