Life Coach - Step 22 of 100 - 30, 60, 90 day plan after taking over the unit

The last 30 days

You have blossomed as the CO. Now you know where exactly you stand, where your team stands and where your unit stands.

  • In the first 30 days you learnt
  • In the next 30 days you discovered your men and their capabilities
  • In the last 30 days you set about achieving your vision - setting targets - it may mean taking harsh decisions, it may mean going against what your juniors advice you. It really does not matter as long as you are open to taking back things to "jaise the" if your plan backfires

After the first 90 days of your command you should be hands on the job. You should never forget to question. It is okay to forget, but it is not okay to hide your ignorance. Ask, ask and ask.

A command is typically 24 months. First 3 months should establish you. The next 3 months you should start cleaning up activities - audits, inspections, trainings. 6 months later it should be about constant improvement in everything for the rest of the tenure.

What plans have you made for your transition as a CO?
