Life coach - Step 71 of 100 - Building the brand "ME"

When Mayurika joined Accenture consulting she was told that every six months she should update her resume. And in this 6 months she should have some achievements that she can reflect in her resume. If there are none, it means she is stagnating and if she does not take steps she soon could be redundant.

Defence being a life long career there is really no need for a resume. However the lessons of a updated resume every 6 months make a lot of sense. It helps to build a brand "ME".

Resume is updated either when you change your job, your role, your project - it shows experience to new environment - which translates to learning new skills, facing new problems - everything related to the newness. On the other hand a resume can still be updated even if you are still in the same role, same project - in this case the resume would reflect the improvements in operational efficiency that you have brought about, the higher quality standards you have achieved.

Bottom line: If the resume today and 6 months back is still the same, it is a wake up call. Brand "ME" is about external achievements that happen due to your internal attitude.
