If I were to write a letter to you asking you to be my reference for a job, how would I define quality in letter writing? I will describe the quality in letter writing using hygiene and motivators.
What are the motivators?
- Purpose of the letter
- What I expect you to do, expect you to say when you are called by the recruiter
- A format that you can use to write a reference for me for that particular job
- No spelling mistakes
- Clean legible handwriting
- Lack of verbosity
- A clear flow of thoughts
- A salutation and a thank you ending
The hygiene factors are typically not even considered. If I am joining a new job, I expect that I will have a better role, better payscale, perks, etc. I dont even expect that I would be given a good chair, a good workstation, clean restroom facilities, canteen access, etc. If the hygiene factors are present, I wont even notice them. But if they are missing, it would be a sore issue.
So now with this understanding of the two factors and my earlier post on explicit and implicit requirements - can you link the two?
And once you have linked the two posts, tell me how do you use this approach to define quality in what you do or what you expect others to do?
